Show Your Work! – by Austin Kleon

Show Your Work!

A week or so ago I talked about the first book I read by Austin Kleon called Steal Like an Artist: 10 Things Nobody Told You About Being Creative. After that, I read his latest book, Show Your Work! – 10 Ways to Share Your Creativity and Get Discovered. Personally, I enjoyed and was inspired more by Steal Like an Artist, but this one was informative and gives very good, practical advice for people who are looking to share more of their creations to the world.

  1. You don’t have to be a genius.
  2. Think process, not product.
  3. Share something everyday.
  4. Open up your cabinet of curiosities.
  5. Tell good stories.
  6. Teach what you know.
  7. Don’t turn into human spam.
  8. Learn to take a punch.
  9. Sell out.
  10. Stick around.

Kleon has good experience in arts as well as sharing his artwork. He encourages his readers to not only share their art, but to share how they produced it; to be a teacher. This is something that Kleon himself does very well. This is definitely a good read for any blogger or anyone wanting to show the world their creations.
